Find Fitness Success With These Helpful Suggestions

By Vito La Fata

Would you like some help in your quest for fitness? Happily, there are lots of ways to help you find success not only in fitness, but also in other areas of your life. Staying on the path to success is a matter of understanding some success principles and then implementing them in your life. Let's look at some of these.

One of the first things you can do is to try to resist too much distraction in our world filled with distraction! Our phones are ringing, we have emails coming in, texts bombarding us and voice mails to listen to. We are trying to multi-task, but it is not working very well. It is also bad for our health.

There was actually a study did that demonstrated how poorly multitasking actually works in the real world. The researchers found that when people multitask, they actually lose 10 points in their overall IQ score assessment. This explains a lot, does it not? Even though we are trying hard to multitask, it just is not having the results that we desire.

But that is not the whole of the interesting research on IQ and multitasking. There was also research done on people who were high. It turns out that when a person is high, they only drop about five points of their IQ! So multitasking is harder on focus than is getting high!

Multitasking doesn't work; it's much better to focus. We lose 28% of our productive energy when we try to do too much at once. How does this apply to your fitness? When you're at a session, be there. Don't be somewhere else, hanging onto your phone, as though the world won't be ok without you for 30-60 minutes. When you are at home, be present with your family, your nutrition, etc.--give it attention and focus versus mindlessly eating, or being distracted by TV.

It is important to understand that successful people are aware that there are things clamoring for their attention and they work hard to resist being distracted by them. They turn off the television, they don't spend their lives watching the news. They take breaks, clear their minds and keep pressing forward. You would do well to do the same.
